Aww, shucks. Sometimes, our tribe of client-friends says some seriously blush-worthy sweet stuff. We love you all right back! Hugs, woofs & wags. ~Ruth & Rusty~
“We highly recommend Ruth Hagen of ‘The Soulful Pet’ for pre-adoption puppy consultations, as well as in-home training after bringing your puppy home.
We are breeders of GoldenDoodles who have worked closely with Ruth over the past 10 years. Ruth’s insights and intuitive sense about people and pups have been invaluable to us in solving behavior issues, matching families to pups and improving our puppy socialization pre adoption.
We would not be who we are today without Ruth’s awesome contributions!”
~Jim & Lynn Fleck of Wine Country Goldendoodles
“We met Ruth Hagen through the breeders of our Golden Doodle, Finnegan.
Ruth was onsite at the breeders’ home the day we went to pick out our new puppy. Based on Ruth’s knowledge of canine behavior, her assessment of each of the puppies in the litter was right on target. We got a little 8-week guy who was perfect for our family. He has turned out to be a very sensitive, loving and lively addition to our home.
Because of all her knowledge, expertise and the gentle demeanor she demonstrates with dogs and people, we have continued to work with her, engaging her services to help with various training techniques and issues that have come up. Her loving attitude and the positive re-enforcement skills she has shared have been welcome solutions to all of the typical puppy shenanigans.
More recently, Ruth also helped us with the interactions between our boisterous puppy and our son’s rescue dog who doesn’t get along very well with other dogs. She taught us some dog training techniques that we can use to help them both adjust to the situation better. Her advice to all of us regarding our tense interactions between the dogs, along with the positive re-enforcement techniques she demonstrated for use with the dogs, have worked wonders. We highly recommend Ruth’s services – Finnegan and his parents love our time with Ruth and her dog, Rusty.
We can’t say enough good things about Ruth as a trainer or as a human being.
She demonstrates a loving, knowledgeable and caring attitude, whether dealing with her four-legged or two-legged friends.”

“After the passing of my husband and going through all the hoops, etc. that are necessary, I realized my life was empty and my home so quiet.
I had been without a dog for many years and concluded that’s what was needed to fill the void. I had been blessed with a wonderful stray cocka-poo that had been a great pet–I needed a dog just like her. Good luck! And my luck held out. I searched the Humane Society, the local paper and finally the internet. And there she was–a white, female poodle mix. I could hardly believe my eyes. It was love at first sight! Molly came to me crate trained, house broken , loved children and well behaved.
This is where Ruth entered my life. A friend suggested that I contact Ruth just to be sure Molly was what she appeared to be. Ruth visited us at our home and proceeded to put Molly through a series of exercises. Ruth concluded that Molly was well trained, but would benefit from a few more learned things. With Ruth’s gentle and loving abilities with dogs, she was able to give me some tools to improve in a few weak areas, like leash walking and coming when called. We both have mastered these areas, thanks to Ruth. A very strong bond has been created between Ruth, Molly, Rusty, who is Ruth’s poodle, and myself. I refer to Ruth as “my dog whisperer “.
Molly has become my pal, my walking companion, and the joy of my life. This is true not only for me but for all my family and friends. They all vie to take care of her and to stay with them when I am out of town. I can’t imagine my life without her.
I am so fortunate to have found both Ruth and Molly. My life can’t get any better!”

“On Ruth’s first visit to my home I noticed her focus was on me, as well as on the behaviors of my dog, Bruno.
During that first visit we had conversations about Bruno, but through these conversations Ruth was learning about my “parenting” style, or lack thereof. She never made me feel inadequate as a dog owner; she offered suggestions and ways to implement them. She made me feel that I was doing a good job, even though we both knew I had a lot to learn.
One of Ruth’s great strengths in both her dog training career and her dog-sitting career is her ability to connect in a positive way with owners.
Friends who have also been fortunate enough to have Ruth work with them and their dogs will testify to Ruth’s observant intelligence that enables her to teach the owner first, who can then teach their dog.
I am grateful for the help Ruth has given me over the years; Bruno and I have come to love her very much.”
~Susie Condon (Bruno’s human)
“When we think of Ruth, we feel the warmth of her compassion and devotion to all living creatures.
She is truly our troubled-dog whisperer!”

“Ruth was recommended to us by 3 different parties.
We hired her because our recently adopted golden retriever was experiencing separation anxiety which resulted in some destructive behavior. Ruth was a godsend! Her caring, highly intuitive approach coupled with science-based techniques not only saved the day, it saved our sanity.
Working with Ruth made all the difference and we highly recommend her services.”

“As an animal behaviorist and trainer, Ruth is professional, thorough and has a great demeanor with both dogs and humans, alike.
She helped my family and I successfully transition into our new life with our miniature golden doodle puppy and helped make the situation pleasurable.
I’d recommend Ruth to anyone looking to enhance their life with a canine companion!”
~Stefanie Hirayama (Koji’s mum)
“Ruth has a true gift for understanding pets and all things related.
She has really helped me understand my pets needs and how to train/communicate with them better. She is a very intuitive problem-solver. I came to her with training and behavioral issues with my 3 dogs – Not only did she help me with those matters, but she also recommended a solution to an ongoing health issue with one of them, and he has not been back to the emergency room since!
I am so impressed with her wide range of knowledge and skills in working with pet owners to achieve their goals.”
~Stefanie Surovec (Jax & Hank’s mum)
New! See what clients are saying about my intuitive soul-based services:
“I went on a couple walks with Ruth… not only did we talk about life, but she analyzed my relation to nature.
She pointed out some eye opening perspectives, and ultimately gave me hope for my future.
Ruth is such an intuitive and wonderful person, I enjoyed her services very much, and look forward to seeing her again soon!”
~Katherine Harwood, describing her “Walk & Talk” experiences
I have worked with Ruth for many years.
She is extremely insightful and intuitive.
Her empathy is so clear when you’re with her. My brother passed away last year, and I was sharing an unusual experience I had around his death. Ruth, being so in tune to her clients, such as myself, saw something connected to my brother that couldn’t have been more accurate. It was truly amazing! Ruth’s main emphasis however, is the connection between animals and humans. The parallels she is able to determine between the two is very insightful, knowledgeable and significant.
I would recommend her services very highly!”
